The Town of Somers Fire Department issues burning permits pursuant to the regulations set forth by the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.

    Burn Permits are issued from September 1^st to May 31^st of each year. The State of Connecticut DEP does not allow burning during the months of June, July, or August. For further information please contact the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.

    To obtain a burning permit please come to the Somers Fire Department Monday through Friday between 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and fill out the State of Connecticut DEP Open Burning Permit Form. An Open Burning Official will then set up an appointment to inspect the site. All permits are valid for 90 days or until the end of the burning season - whichever is the least.
