The Somers Fire Department uses the NFIRS (National Fire Incident Reporting System) to document our calls. Each call is designated by a number such as all fire calls are between 100-199 and all medical calls are between 300-399. Most our calls fall into these certain categories.

Below is an explanation of our fire calls and how they are reported on our statistics page:


Fire Calls:                                         Structure Fires, Vehicle Fires, Brush Fires, Mutual Aid Response Fires

Medical Calls / Rescue Calls:     All EMS calls, All rescue calls

MVA:                                                 Motor Vehicle Accidents with or without injuries

HazMat:                                           All hazardous calls. Smoke investigations, Hazardous Materials calls, CO Incidents, Gas Leaks, Power Lines down, etc.

Service Calls:                                 Lockouts, EMS / Fire Standby, Lift Assists, Animal Rescue, Water evac., Assist other agencies, Unauthorized Burning, etc.

False Calls:                                    Any detector / alarm activation without incident
